Sergeant Eli Moshe Zimbalist HY”D  a soldier in the combat engineering unit, died Al Kiddush Hashem on Shabbat Parshat Naso, the 9th of Sivan, June 15th, 2024. He was killed in the armored personnel carrier tragedy together with 7 other soldiers. They were on a mission in Rafah, Gaza.

Eli Moshe was only 21 years old. He had a heart of gold and hands of gold. Eli Moshe genuinely cared about everyone, no matter what age. He greeted everyone with a smile and was such a good friend. He also loved to build. He made his first pergola at age 13. He built so many over the years for neighbors. Eli Moshe also built the mechitzot in our shul as well as shtenders for the congregants. He was loved by everyone who had ever met him. 

Eli Moshe and his family made Aliyah from America to Beit Shemesh, in 2005. He was 2.5 years old at the time. Eli Moshe was the beloved son of Sara and Simmy and brother to his 5 sisters and one brother. As well as a beloved brother in law and uncle to two nieces and a nephew.

Eli Moshe was very humble. He often combined his love for woodworking with chesed. When he made things for his friends or fixed things for his friends, he wouldn’t accept payment because he just wanted his friends to be happy. When people would try to thank him, he would answer and truly mean, “it was nothing.”
